Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
A natural beauty lift
Over time, our tissues lose hyaluronic acid (HA). Our face loses volume, increasing the chances for wrinkles and folds to appear. Tissues sag with the years and the flattening of the cheeks leads to jowls and hollowed out nasal furrows which combine to give you a gaunt, tired look.
Fillers provide the only real solution to volume loss in your face. Fillers can also be used to sculpt and re-contour areas of inadequate volume or irregularity such as cheeks, noses and lips. Depressed scars can be improved. Because hyaluronic acid is a natural body substance no preliminary test is needed. With a simple injection of fillers, minor imperfections and signs of aging are softened. You can recapture a more youthful appearance.
What are the fillers?
HA fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a non-animal, biodegradable and naturally occurring sugar found in the skin. Because this substance is found within the body, and is non-animal in origin, there is no need for preliminary allergy testing. It is the key component of the skin’s ability to attract and bind to water molecules, and therefore stay moisturized, helping to maintain a youthful appearance. Over recent years, hyaluronic acid has emerged as the miracle compound for filling in wrinkles. It gives volume to the skin, lubricates the joints and gives eyes their shape. HA fills the space between collagen and elastin fibres- replenishing the natural support layers lost with aging- while delivering essential nutrients and hydration. Over time, HA is gradually reabsorbed by your body. It is injected into the skin with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to your skin.
A new look in 30 minutes
Achieving the look you desire is as easy as it is quick. The result is instantaneous. No previous skin test is needed, which means that you can have the treatment immediately. The session may take less than thirty minutes depending on the correction you want to have performed. During the treatment, hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. When injected into the skin, it produces volume that can smooth the wrinkles and folds, shape facial contours and enhance the lips in a natural way. The result is transformative. The method of injection is fast and safe and leaves no scars or other traces on the face. It not only smooths superficial lines and wrinkles but is also used to fill furrows around the mouth and for eyebrow lifts. This product can also be injected into the cheeks or chin to create or restore volume for a youthful appearance.
For wrinkle treatments and facial augmentation, pain relief is not required by all patients; however it can easily be arranged upon consultation and is quite routine. Prior to your procedure, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated. Many fillers also contain a local anaesthetic which increases comfort.
Hyaluronic acid injection is long-lasting but not permanent. This means that you always have the option to assess your looks. The length of time a treatment maintains its effect is very individual and depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, life-style and muscle activity, as well as the injection technique. Fillers are usually effective for up to six months when injected into the lips or around the mouth area due to increased movement of this area. Experience shows that fillers may last up to one year or more after the treatment of wrinkles or volume loss in other areas of the face. Regular or repeated use of fillers has proven to become even more effective. Together with your practitioner, you can draw up a plan for regular follow-up to maintain the initial treatment. Hyaluronic acid fillers provide a long-lasting but not permanent result, leaving you the option of correcting your treatment in time and re-evaluating your needs with changing taste and fashion. Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment six to twelve months after the initial one but treatment can repeated as often as you like. As your face is constantly changing, beauty is best maintained by evaluating the need for further treatment from time to time. With fillers you are always in charge of your looks and always have the option of continuing or changing the combination of treatments. The treatment can be repeated as often as you like.
Immediately after the treatment, you can expect a slight redness and an itching sensation in the treated area, possibly some mild swelling. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort and swelling is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. With lip augmentation, the swelling may last longer. Some patients experience swelling for about a week. During this time, the lips can look somewhat uneven. This means that the result directly after the treatment should not be regarded as the final result.
A touch-up treatment may be necessary to achieve an optimal correction.
Can there be side effects?
After the treatment some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration or bruising and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within a few days after injection into the skin and within a week after the injection into the lips.
Other types of reactions are very rare, but about 1 in 2000 treated patients have experienced localized reactions thought to be of hypersensitive nature. These have usually consisted of swelling at the injection site, sometimes affecting surrounding tissues. Redness, tenderness and rarely acne-like formations have also been reported. All possible risks and reactions will be discussed with your practitioner.
